Our will writing campaign boosts funds for Maidstone Hospital’s new helipad

Air Ambulance Kent Surrey SussexOur successful charity will writing campaign helped to fund Maidstone Hospital’s new helipad, which opened last month.

Wills and Legal Services’ popular scheme has raised over £1 million for the County Air Ambulance Trust HELP Appeal – the only charity in the country dedicated to funding hospital and air ambulance helipads.

We write your Will for a recommended donation of £40 to the HELP Appeal charity, which has helped to fund helipad projects in the local area.

The charity recently donated £300,000 to Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust to build an all-weather helipad at the rear of the oncology unit, which was opened by HRH The Princess Royal in December 2019. It replaces the temporary site, which was often waterlogged. Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex will be the main user but it can also be used by other emergency services as well as charities such as the Children’s Air Ambulance.

Sarah Watson, director at Wills & Legal Services, said: “We’re delighted to have helped raise vital funds for the HELP Appeal – a charity which aims to reduce the amount of time it takes to treat a critically ill patient, when any delay could seriously reduce their chances of survival.”

Robert Bertram, Chief Executive of the HELP Appeal said: “£1 million from Wills and Legal Services has made a huge difference to our charity and the local projects that we help to fund, including our most recent at Maidstone Hospital. Its new helipad, which not only enables patients to have immediate access to the Emergency Department, is also fully illuminated, allowing air ambulances to land during darkness hours for the first time with critically ill patients. Thank you to WLS for supporting us with helipad projects across the country.”

The HELP Appeal is also discussing other helipad projects across Kent including the Medway Maritime Hospital, Darent Valley Hospital, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate and the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, which will make a huge difference to critically ill patients across the county and beyond.
