Wills & Legal Services will routinely ask for sensitive personal information from you in order to provide accurate drafting services and/or legal advice. This will include your name, address, date of birth and details of your assets, liabilities and income. It may also include similar details for your children or those for whom you are a legal guardian, carer, attorney or court appointed deputy. We will also ask for some personal information about others connected to you such as the names and addresses of beneficiaries under your will or beneficiaries of lifetime trusts.
It is important we hold accurate personal data to provide you with the services you have instructed us to undertake. Without comprehensive accurate details of your circumstances the advice given to you may be inaccurate despite our best efforts.
We will also use your information to contact you from time to time by phone to remind you that your will should be regularly reviewed and to notify you of our services in general.
Most personal data we keep for 6 years. Some data we retain indefinitely this includes data relating to trusts set up in life, wills, powers of attorney and any original documents such as deeds for properties not registered with the land registry.

Wills & Legal Services uses systems provided by Third parties to provide you with a high quality service. The providers of these services are called Data Processors. Data Processors hold information on our behalf. Data held in this way is held securely by our data processors who all comply with their obligations under the GDPR and their contractual obligations to Wills & Legal Services.
Your data or part of it may also be viewed by our accountants, bankers and IT support providers in the course of their work for us.
The paralegal who will meet with you may be a self-employed advisor providing services on behalf of Wills & Legal Services. The paralegal may hold data themselves or through their own service company. It is necessary to share data with the Paralegal as they are meeting you face to face, providing the advice and assisting you in the execution of documents. We have agreed with all our paralegals that we will jointly control data with them regarding our clients. As part of this agreement we have agreed to undertake all compliance functions for them. We operate Charity Wills schemes for a number of local and national charities on behalf of those charities. Data acquired through our charity will schemes is shared with the relevant charity with whom we have a data sharing agreement.
Where you have requested services provided by other companies within our group or where it is necessary for us to seek guidance or services from another group company to provide you with the services you have requested we will share information with those group companies. These companies include, WLS Solicitors, WLS Financial Services, WLS Funeral Plans, Scottish Friendly and Golden Leaves.
We will share personal information with law enforcement agencies if required by applicable law.
We will not share your personal information with any other third parties without your consent.
We are relying on your explicit consent to process your data either when you first contacted us, in regard processing your data to contact you and arrange an appointment. For all other data we rely on the consent when you signed our consumer agreement and privacy notice.
